Refund for dietary advice

Refund for dietary advice

Since January 1, 2019, all acts performed by a registered dietitian (with a provider code) and prescribed by a doctor as part of the care for celiac disease (or other planned pathology in the agreement) will be reimbursed by the National Health Fund (CNS) or another competent public sector sickness fund.

Negotiations for reimbursement were made between the Luxembourg Association of Dietitians (ANDL) and the CNS. Thanks to ALIG's intervention, celiac disease is on the list of 13 pathologies for which financial support is planned..

In the event that an ALIG member already wishes to make an appointment for dietary consultation, we advisewait until the end of March. Indeed, to ensure the smooth running of this procedure (prescription established by a doctor and dietetic care by a dietitian), as well as to ensure the quality of the advice to be given in case of need for a diet gluten-free, ALIG has undertaken several actions.

  • In a first step, the ANDL informed its members on the procedures for obtaining the service provider code, on the reimbursement procedure with the CNS, on billing to their patients, etc. The president and the administrative assistant of ALIG attended this meeting.
  • Then, in close collaboration between ANDL and ALIG, specific continuing education over a period of 8 hours, run by a dietitian specializing in the gluten-free diet, was developed and implemented. It will take place on March 2, 2019 and will be organized for dietitians interested.
  • ALIG will establish a list, available for consultation at our secretariat, with the contact details of dieticians recommended for the follow-up of people with celiac disease. Health professionals who have undergone specific training in connection with celiac disease, including the one just designed by ANDL and ALIG, may be included on this list.

We therefore ask you for a little more patience - the ALIG will provide you with more details towards the end of March. For all intents and purposes, please note that the website of the CNS already provides a certain amount of information.
